Topic: "Refactor Mercilessly with IntelliJ IDEA"
Nathan Shaw, Ph.D. will provide a demonstration of refactoring using IntelliJ IDEA. His presentation will include a brief overview of refactoring and a survey of IDEA ' s key features but most of the session will be reserved for a group coding exercise in refactoring.
About the Speaker:
Nathan began developing software with studies in nuclear physics requiring real time data acquisition software and simulations of nuclear fusion-fission reactions. He joined the OCLC Online Computer Library Center as a software engineer in 2000 and started adopting XP
practices at that time. Since then he has helped develop Java EE web applications designed to help libraries share resources through Interlibrary Loan. He switched to IntelliJ IDEA
(http://www.intellij.com) as his development environment of choice a year and a half ago and has become an advocate for XP-style unit tests and refactoring along the way.
