Past Meetings Date: August 9, 2005 Increasing the Agility of Your Development Team - Enabling Iterative Development As development organizations move towards iterative development methods (such as Agile Development and XP), greater attention is being placed on the build phase of product development. Without a reliable build framework that is automated, repeatable, and scalable, the CM team can quickly become a bottleneck in the development cycle. Over the last year, many agile proponents have emphasized build process optimization as a critical component to increase overall team agility. This session will discuss best practices that industry experts have prescribed to help development teams optimize their development agility, and will focus specifically on ClearCase environments. There will be a demonstration of the BuildForge integration with Rational ClearCase, along with case studies from industry leaders, including IBM Rational and IBM Websphere's internal development strategies. By making some relatively simple changes, companies have generated 20-40% productivity gains, 10-20x faster build times, and significant improvements in product quality through implementing effective build and release practices. At the end of the session, there will be a giveaway of an MP3 player, and a copy of Peter Schuh's latest book on agile development, entitled "Integrating Agile Development In The Real World"
